Program Philosophy

The Salvation Army is a major statewide, national and international organization that is truly unique, religiously based foundation, dedicated to supporting the family. The Salvation Army has always had at its core, a distinctively nondiscriminating ideology that has withstood more than 100 years of service. It is for these reasons that families facing adoption would greatly benefit from the vast network of services provided by such an extraordinary organization.

The preservation of the family has always been a major Salvation Army value. When a family of origin cannot remain intact, it is vital that children become part of another family system that can nuture, love and provide for development. While adoption itself incorporates loss inherently in the process, it also creates a beginning. We have always seen people through intense difficulty while gently directing the healing with a strong spiritual component. This is why the adoption process lends itself so well to the Salvation Army's mission and character.
