Why Become a Foster Parent (see FAQ)

There are many children in our community who would benefit from the love and care of a foster family. These children, victims of troubled families, need a period of separation from their natural parents.

The Salvation Army is looking for families willing to open their hearts and homes to these children. They need the love and care of a stable home environment to help them through a very difficult period of their lives.

By volunteering to become a foster parent, you can help these children become productive, healthy adults.

The Different Types of Foster Care

Respite Care: Providing weekend or short-term care for a child so that the foster parents can take a vacation or an occasional break.

Foster Care: Providing for the child's physical, promotional, medical, and social needs over a temporary period of time until a permanent living situation can be established.

Fost/Adopt: When there's a possibility that the child may be available for adoption, the foster family accepts the child on a temporary basis but will adopt if the child becomes legally free for adoption.
